Lift the pendulum and latch it onto the pendulum‑holding mechanism. Hold the specimen with the notch facing right and place it in the middle of the groove. Slide the centering block in parallel from the right side of the specimen, so that the centering section of the block aligns with the specimen notch. This ensures the notch center is coplanar with the upper surface of the fixture. Then turn the fixture handle clockwise to clamp the test bar firmly.
