Working Principle
The
contact angle (denoted as θ) refers to the angle formed between the tangent of
the gas-liquid interface drawn at the three-phase intersection of gas, liquid
and solid (on the liquid side) and the solid-liquid boundary line. It serves as
a quantitative measure of wettability and is a primary method for current
surface property testing.
This
instrument measures the contact angle, surface energy and other parameters on
sample surfaces via optical imaging and image contour analysis. It mainly
consists of a light source, liquid injection unit, sample stage, image
acquisition system and analysis software. Equipped with a differential
precision liquid feeding device, the equipment features high-cost performance,
strong expandability and comprehensive functions, capable of meeting various
routine measurement requirements. It has been widely adopted by numerous
universities, research institutes and enterprises.

1. Precision Mechanics: The system frame is constructed from high-quality imported high-strength anodized aluminum profiles with a baked enamel finish. All other major components are also precision-manufactured from aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and copper alloy, ensuring exceptional instrument stability.
2. Precision Positioning: All linear movement units in the system, including the three-dimensional sample stage (XY axis), (Z-axis) syringe/needle movement adjustment, are driven by linear copper racks and pinions with precision dovetail grooves, ensuring smooth, effortless, and precise transmission.
3. Comprehensive Selection of Injectors and Needles: Dozens of different injector specifications are available for users to choose from, such as various sizes (25ul/50ul/100ul/250ul/500ul/1000ul…), materials (airtight glass injectors/plastic injectors), and brands (Hamilton/Boli…) to meet diverse customer needs. Offering various sizes (10-34#) and different materials (stainless steel/PTFE/PP flexible needles) as well as special needles (bent needles), it can be used for routine contact angle measurements, and also for sample introduction and droplet transfer of special liquids such as superhydrophobic, superhydrophilic, and high-viscosity liquids.
4. Imaging System: Employing a rolling shutter high-resolution CMOS image sensor paired with a 0.7-4.5 telecentric profile lens. Ensuring optimal imaging results. Simultaneously, a high-intensity backlight with continuously digitally adjustable brightness provides uniform background illumination for imaging.
High-quality lenses and high-resolution cameras can display droplets in images at ideal size and brightness, even very small droplets.
5. Leading Software Platform: Software is the soul and brain of the entire measurement system. CA V2.0 software provides users with a wide range of functions and features, many of which are outstanding in this field. As an optical method, the accuracy of the measurement depends on the quality of the image and the subsequent processing, analysis, and calculation methods. The core components of the software include sub-pixel droplet coordinate detection, automatic liquid/solid/fluid three-phase contact line identification, full droplet contour analysis, and droplet monitoring based on continuous information feedback, all of which can be completed in real time. It features automatic bilateral contact angle measurement and rapid fitting capabilities, analyzing the surface wetting properties of liquids and solids, and providing a more accurate analysis of the actual surface wetting situation.
6. The software automatically generates reports, including various data reports such as Word, Excel, PDF text and images, and spectral graphs.
7. Provides imported German contact angle measurement calibration samples to ensure instrument accuracy. Angle calibration standard plates are available in 5°, 8°, and 30° (optional); 60°, 90°, and 120° (optional).
8. Features a domestically pioneering automatic baseline tilt function, correcting for differences caused by sample or machine tilt.
9. A hierarchical management system with access control, separating lab technicians from administrators. This prevents human error from affecting test results.
10. Equipped with a rapid fitting function for bilateral contact angle measurement, providing a more comprehensive analysis of the surface wetting properties of liquids and solids and a more accurate analysis of the actual surface wetting situation.
11. Dynamic shooting and video rapid test data recording allows for continuous recording of contact angle changes, followed by automatic batch fitting by software.
12. Features a historical database function, recording each test result and allowing for traceability of historical test results.
