Falling Dart Impact Tester for Packaging Films

Falling Dart Impact Tester is designed to determine the impact resistance of packaging

materials, such as plastic films, laminates, and paper, by means of a free-falling dart from a specified

height. This instrument is designed according to ASTM D1709 and ISO 7765-1, using methods A and

B.

Product Features

Fully automated testing process without manual calculations improves work efficiency.

Two test modes, A and B, are available.

Electromagnetic Dart Release Mechanism

The falling dart operates on the principle of electromagnetic suspension and can be released

automatically.

Test Standards

This instruments conforms to multiple international standards ASTM D1709, ISO 7765-1, JIS K7124-1

Test Principle

At the beginning of the test, select the test method as the first step, estimate an initial mass and m

value, and then conduct the test. If the first sample is damaged, use the weight m to reduce the

falling mass; if the first sample is not damaged, use the weight m to increase the falling mass for the

next test. In short, the use of weights to reduce or increase the falling mass depends on whether the

previous sample is damaged. After 20 samples are tested, calculate the total number of damaged

samples. If n is equal to 10, the test is complete; if n is less than 10, continue the test after

supplementing samples until n is equal to 10; if n is greater than 10, continue testing with additional

samples until the total number of undamaged samples equals 10. Finally, the system automatically

calculates the impact results.
